Lego Challenge Tuesday – build a bridge

Hello everyone!

Today’s challenge will require some engineer skills. Put your thinking cap on and let’s go.

We are building a bridge. A strong bridge!

Lego Challenge Tuesday - build a bridge - gatherlovegrow

To start, I’ve used some painter’s tape to draw a “river”on the floor. The kids had to build a bridge that could theoretically bring a car from one side of the river to the other. No part of the bridge is allowed to touch the floor between the two strips of tape. Some of our bridges were close to touching, but never actually did.

It had to be wide enough to hold a book. The books will then be used to add weights to it. We will establish who’s bridge is the strongest by how much weight it can carry without breaking.

Take a look at what we’ve created.

And the results are in…here is the challenge winner in my home!

Now it’s your turn to give it a try.

Get creative and build a bridge that will support a maximum amount of weight.

Happy building! Enjoy your Lego Challenge Tuesday!!!

See you next Tuesday…

  1. This one sparked some interesting discussion at breakfast! Questions came up like: how long is the bridge supposed to be? How are we going to build a bridge with no supports in the middle? What kinds of books should we use as weights? I look forward to seeing what they come up with!

      1. I am letting them test their bridges before the real thing. So our results might be a little different. They are all trying to outdo each other lol
