Lego Challenge Tuesday -build a race car for an egg

This week’s Lego challenge was a lot of fun. The kids were soooo excited. I bet your kids will be also. We built little race cars that can carry an egg.

Here are the goals for this challenge.

1- build a race car that can carry an egg.

2- race the car down a ramp while carrying the egg and make it to the bottom of the ramp safely, without breaking the egg.

3- you must use 4 wheels (my kids asked if they could just slide it down without wheels. It doesn’t flip over as easily. But nope, you NEED 4 wheels, at least, or else it doesn’t qualify as a “car”. No boat races!)

They were allowed to test try their cars before placing the egg inside. This gave them a chance to make modifications before it was too late. Meany mom here only gave them one egg each. So if you squash it on your first attempt, that’s it. You’re done!

Taking pictures of a car race isn’t ideal, so I took videos instead. You can view the videos on my facebook page.

But first, here are their cars, with the eggs inside, before the race.

One egg did not crack or break at all. The other two cracked a bit, but nothing too serious. I was able to put them back in the fridge once we were done. Yeah, no waste! Ha Ha Ha!

Not too bad huh?

Of course, now it’s your turn. Give it a try and see what happens. Take pictures and share them with us on our facebook page or share your link to them in our comments box below.

Happy Lego Challenge Tuesday!!!

Have fun!

  1. This made me think of something fun I did in high school. We had to make something that would protect an egg when it was dropped from a second story. It had to be made out of things like cardboard.
